Early 1900's, Joseph Price,starting working life as an engineer moved to the John
Bull rubber company on
development of rubber tyres, which were in their infancy.
Later moving to Firestone’s tyre factory.
Meeting an owner of a rubber company, he was persuaded to
run a factory in Box,Wiltshire, developing tyres,tennis balls,squash balls and rubber
products.
1939,war time....ball production ceased, switching to making, tyres and rubber components
for armoured vehicles, tanks etc.
In 1947 he registered J Price(Bath), later absorbing
the Box business that had ran into difficulties.
Derek, his son, joined the business in 1947 and still developing balls and other
rubber products.
Derek’s daughter Louise joined the company over 10 years ago and has been taking
over the running of the business. Together they have built and moved into a new factory
to take Price into the next 100 years! Exciting times!
